Empowering exchange: A Cantina Conversation on 20 January with Green Thing's James Alexander
15 December 2009
In his Cantina Conversation, James will share his story of how online platforms like Zopa and Do the Green Thing empower exchange and create value using new business models.
From his earlier days as an architect of pioneering online banking brands like Smile and Egg, James Alexander has been delighting consumers with inventive brand experiences that deliver real value.
In 2005 James founded Zopa: a peer-to-peer lending platform linking risky borrowers with individuals willing to loan at 8-12% interest that, amongst many accolades, was named as Retail Banker International's Global 'Most Threatening Non-Bank Competitor'. This win-win approach is one James is now applying to ecological lifestyle change.
His latest online venture Green Thing -- part public service, part peer advocacy platform -- encourages people to cut their personal CO2 emissions using humour and peer evangelism. In his Cantina Conversation on 20 January, James will share his story of how these platforms empower exchange and create value.
